Medieval Coventry Conference

Over 100 people attended our highly successful conference held at the Old Grammar School and St Mary’s Hall on 29 September 2017.

Eleven senior academics from across the UK and further afield provided papers with original research on themes relating to medieval Coventry. For a copy of the programme, click here.

Key medieval documents like the Charter of Incorporation, the weaver’s pageant and the Leet Book were on display.

The proceedings were recorded on video, available here. We hope to publish a volume of the proceedings in 2018.

The conference was very well received. Here are some of the comments from our audience:

‘Very good input! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you so much for putting it on.’

‘A fine range of presentations. Overall today has enriched my appreciation of this amazingly rich local history and it was a privilege to hear from so many medievalists. So good to meet in two such splendid venues.’

‘Great day! So many experts in one room! Very interesting indeed.’

‘Well organised – enthusiastic audience and speakers – resourceful presentation.’

We are grateful for the generous support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Culture Coventry and for those who donated on the day.
